A+ for value as Tesco launches F&F Back to School uniform range including bundle option for just €6.50

Tesco survey reveals how parents cut costs around back to school time

Thursday 23rd July: Tesco Ireland is set to pass the test for value with the launch of its full F&F Back to School offering on Monday, 27th July. The range aims to make life that little bit easier for parents by offering great value prices, high-quality, fantastic range, colours and availability as well as accessibility, with the option to shop in-store or online.

Understanding the pressures associated with back to school time, Tesco Ireland has revealed how parents are cutting costs during one of the most expensive times of the year. A survey of 1,000 Irish parents uncovered that hand-me-down uniforms are the second most common initiative to save on costs (58%) but with (42%) of parents feeling they should buy new garments for their child, high quality uniforms at great prices were a must. Packing home-made lunches was revealed as the most common cost-cutting exercise implemented by parents (70%) to save on back to school expenses.

In light of this research, F&F at Tesco presents a range of high-quality uniforms and back to school essentials to suit every budget, offering families cost-effective and time-saving solutions for the new school term all under one roof. For just €6.50, parents can purchase a great value uniform bundle which includes a combination of a blue polo shirt, a navy jumper and navy trousers for boys or a navy skirt for girls. With 100% cotton polo’s, a permanent pleated skirt and stain-resistant fabrics on both the trousers and skirts, this is a great value deal with quality at its core.

With almost one quarter (23%) of all school parents buying uniforms and shoes in bigger sizes so that they last longer, the F&F range offers an innovative solution with adjustable waists on its skirts and trousers for longer wear as the child grows. Catering for ages 3 up to 16 years, a number of performance benefits ensure long-lasting durability against daily wear and tear. These include reinforced knees, super-strength seems, sealed hems, Teflon-coated, stain resistant fabrics.

F&F unisex sweatshirts, starting from €3.75, are 100% cotton, machine washable and tumble dryer friendly. They also include As New technology which keeps colours bright and bobble-free day after day offering parent’s confidence in their back to school buys.

Alison McElroy, F&F Marketing Manager, Tesco Ireland said: “Unsurprisingly, our research highlighted that a child’s happiness in school is the number one concern for 6 in 10 parents. Most of us can remember the excitement of putting on our new uniform on the first day of school, and we wanted our collection to tick all the boxes so that parents can feel confident in what they are buying, while their child feels proud about what they are wearing.”

She continued: “Combining quality with great value prices has always been a priority for F&F, but our added performance benefits across the entire back to school range will ensure that parents get great value for money and quality that will go the distance, giving them one less things to worry about.”

Tesco is also top of the class when it comes to back-to-school essentials, for both the classroom and the sports hall. Offering a full range of accessories including schoolbags, lunchboxes and stationary from just €1.50 means that getting your little ones back to school has never been so affordable and convenient.

Confessions of a busy parent…

With an abundance of things for mum to remember around back to school time, Tesco’s research also uncovered a number of other ways that parents cut corners – almost a quarter (23%) of parents admitted to buying ready-made cakes to sell at a school “bake sale” to save time, while almost one in five (19%) confessed to regularly driving their children to school in a dressing gown or pyjamas. One in ten (8%) admitted to having forgotten to collect their child from school entirely, showing that every little helps when it comes to making life that little bit easier for parents.

Select uniform essentials are available all year around with the full F&F Back to School range available from Monday, 27th July online at f-f.com and at selected Tesco stores nationwide from next week.
