Tesco Extra Balbriggan Launches "Tesco Supporting Our Community" Initiative

4th March 2014: Tesco Extra Balbriggan has launched the “Tesco Supporting Our Community Scheme” and announced the three successful good causes taking part.

The "Remember Us Initiative", Irish Guide Dogs (Balbriggan) and O’ Dwyer’s GAA Club, were welcomed to Tesco Extra Balbriggan by Store Manager, Brian Farrell.

Collect a token at the checkout, every time you shop, choose the good cause you wish to support and drop the token into the collection box provided. At the end of the six week trial the tokens received by each individual good cause will be added up and the prize fund distributed proportionally.

The “Tesco Supporting Our Community Scheme” is just one of a number of programmes run by the retailer to support local communities and good causes.

- Tesco’s Charity of the Year, AWARE, has benefited from over €1.8million raised over the past two years.

- Tesco’s Lions Food Appeal at Christmas raised enough food to create 80,000 meals

- Tesco is one of the biggest supporters of Irish food and drink industry, purchasing over €2 billion worth of Irish food and drink per annum
