Tesco Ireland named as one of the Best Workplaces in Ireland for the second consecutive year
Tesco Ireland has been officially recognised as one of the Best Workplaces in Ireland in 2019. Tesco Ireland was recognised at the 17th annual Great Place to Work Best Workplaces in Ireland awards in the Clayton Hotel on Burlington Road, Dublin on Wednesday 27th February. This is Tesco’s second year to be named as a top Irish workplace, which is assessed through Great Place to Work’s robust ‘Trust Index©’ employee survey and a thorough ‘Culture Audit©’ assessment of their policies and practices.
As a leading food retailer, Tesco is one of the biggest private sector employers in Ireland employing over 13,000 colleagues across the country in its network of stores, head office and distribution centre. In addition to the Great Place to Work accolade, Tesco was also acknowledged as one of thirteen, Best Workplaces for Women in Ireland.
The Great Place to Work method celebrates Irish companies who promote employee wellbeing while supporting staff to perform at their best. Companies are assessed on their policies and practices, as well as from the feedback of staff themselves.
Certifying Tesco Ireland as one Ireland’s Best Workplaces, Great Place to Work commended Tesco on its culture, achieving its organisational objectives with employees who give their personal best and who work together as a team, in an environment of trust.
Commenting on the award Geraldine Casey, People Director, Tesco Ireland said, “We’re very proud to have retained the Great Place to Work standard for the second year running. As one of only 19 Certified companies in the country; it’s a great honour. We achieved accreditation for 2019 and will continue to build on learnings year on year evolving our business to better the wellbeing of our 13,000 colleagues”.
“Our best investment as a business is without doubt in our people. We believe in treating each other with respect, giving everyone an equal opportunity to get on. We’re in the process of rolling out smarter and flexible working policies across our estate and it’s those small changes that will really made a difference for our colleagues’ everyday as we all strive to serve our shoppers a little better every day”.
“With a record high of more than 2.28 million now employed in Ireland, and unemployment at 5.7%, we’re on the cusp of the oft-cited ‘full employment’. That might serve to explain why this year, the number of employees assessed by Great Place to Work in Ireland has more than doubled. They’ve given us a clear sense of their workplace experience and the workplace practices that Irish organisations of every size are putting in place to drive that experience.” said John Ryan, CEO of Great Place to Work® Ireland.
