Tesco’s Click & Collect climbs aboard Luas at Red Cow & Stillorgan
Free-of-charge online service helps make life easier for customers
Thursday, 27th November 2014: Tesco is the first retailer in Ireland to team up with Luas to introduce its ‘Click & Collect’ shopping service at the Red Cow and Stillorgan tram stops, it has been announced. The innovative ‘Click & Collect’ shopping service is free-of-charge and available seven days a week. It enables customers to save time by having their Tesco groceries ready for collection at a time and location that suits them best. Helping to launch the service today was TV3 presenter and busy mum of two, Sybil Mulcahy and her children, Michael and Genevieve.
To celebrate the launch, Tesco and Luas have also announced that every customer who uses the new Click & Collect Luas service in the first week from Thursday, 27th December to 5th December will be entered into a draw to win six months free Tesco Click & Collect shopping vouchers worth €2,700 and a Luas Adult All Zones Annual Ticket worth €910.00.*
Celebrity presenter and busy mum Sybil Mulcahy says Tesco Click & Collect gives her the flexibility she needs with such a busy life-style. “Click & Collect is quick, easy and perfect for the busy mum or dad who doesn’t want the hassle of negotiating the aisles with the kids in tow. It has made a huge difference to the way I shop and I think the new Luas Click & Collect services will be very popular with busy commuters who can pick and choose a collection time that best suits their needs.”
Commenting on the partnership, Christine Heffernan, Corporate Affairs Director, Tesco Ireland said, “In an ever more connected world, customers are changing the way they shop. We are focused on meeting the changing needs of our customers to give them the best possible value and service to make their lives easier. Our new Luas Click & Collect is a really positive development and we are very excited about the potential of this innovative new service.”
Cara Moloney, Luas Marketing Manager said “Luas is delighted to partner with Tesco to offer their Click & Collect service to our busy Luas commuters and all our passengers. We carry over 80,000 passengers per weekday and we believe this new service at Red Cow and Stillorgan stops will help provide time strapped passengers with an even better travel experience.”
Aimed at those who have limited time to shop or to wait for a home delivery, the service offers a stress-free method for customers to complete their weekly shop and gives customers greater flexibility by collecting their shopping at a time and location convenient for them.
The service allows customers to order groceries online and choose a two hour collection window to pick up their shopping from the Luas stop collection points. Turn-around time for a collection is expected to be less than five minutes on average. All products are picked on the day of collection and safely stored until customers arrive.
To use the service, customers simply select the Click & Collect option on Tesco.ie, place their grocery order online, and select a two hour time slot and pick-up from their local collection point. Customers can collect their shopping from the allocated car parking spaces at the Red Cow and Stillorgan Luas stops where Tesco colleagues will deliver their order directly.
